Sandhurst Farm Forge

Charles Dickinson is a third generation Farrier and Blacksmith, now working as an “Artist Blacksmith” with over 40 years’ experience. Having done a seven year apprenticeship, he has worked as a General and Agricultural blacksmith as well as a farrier since the age of 16.

Our family and business moved from Yorkshire to Kent in 1995, and set up at Sandhurst Farm Forge and B&B in Newnham; where retired from shoeing horses, Charles could start working more artistically. Still using his traditional skills, smokeless fuel coke fire and anvil, He produces high quality commissioned work.

Recent pieces have included village signs for Newnham and Rodmersham; Circular Gates, restoration work, alongside the many candle sticks, fire grates, fire screens, curtain poles and garden sculptures, in mild steel, stainless steel and copper.

It is always wise to phone before visiting especially if coming from a distance away.
